It’s important that you update people of your new address after your move, but there are some people who need to be updated as soon as possible to ensure they can contact you. We have produced a checklist of the most important people to inform of your new address:

  • Inform those who you’re expecting mail from – You may need to set up a re-directory with Royal Mail after your move, luckily this can be done online.
  • Inform any clubs you participate in of your new address after your move – depending on the club’s policies, you may have to send an official letter of house relocation.
  • Inform academic institutions – you will need to inform schools/colleges of your move for yourself and the rest of your family.
  • Inform your hospital/surgery of your new address – they will require your new address after you have moved for their records.
  • Inform your dentists of your new address – they will require your new address for their records.
  • Inform your optician of your new address – they will require your new address, for their records.
  • Inform any other medical specialists you attend (physician, paediatrician, psychiatrist) – they will require your new address for their records.
  • Update your address on your TV licence, this can also be done online.
  • Inform your HR department of your new address.
  • Inform HMRC of your new address.
  • Inform banks of your new address.
  • Inform your gas and electricity provider of your new address.
  • Inform your water provider of your new address after you have moved.
  • Inform your Satellite/Cable/Internet/Mobile provider of your change of address.
  • Inform DVLA.
  • Inform any insurance provider you have that you have moved.
  • Inform your breakdown recovery service.
  • Inform your vehicle registration company.
  • You need to change your voting address.
